Project C 2 - Actual research
In phase II and III of SFB 607, the main focuses of project C2 have been
  • the analysis of the simulation model
    • sensitivity analysis for most important model parameters
uncertainty analysis of model outputs in relation to inaccuracies of model inputs

  • the evaluation of presently developed modelling approaches for:
    • simulation of the effect of different N-fertilisation levels on the allocation to defensive compounds (phenolics) in young apple trees (data from A8)
simulation of interspecific competition between young beeches and spruces under ambient and elevated atmospheric CO2- as well as under ambient and doubled atmospheric O3 concentrations (data from B5)
simulation of susceptibility of young beeches depending on different CO2- and N-fertilisation-scenarios (data from A6)
simulation of intraspecific competition in sunflower canopies (data from B6)
simulation of N-fertilisation- and O3-effects on growth and resistance of potato plants (data from A7)

  • the further development of the model:
    • estimation of bioenergetic costs for maintenance, growth, defense and "third-party" trade-offs on the basis of biochemical fractions (cellulose, lignins, phenols, lipids, sugars, starch and proteins)

development of a mechanistic modelling approach for allocation to defensive compounds in case of pathogenes diseases and ozone stress
formulation of object functions for plant internal resource allocation on the base of cost/benefit balances
improvement of the modelling approach for plant-plant interactions
development and parameterisation of a modelling approach for interactions in the mycorrhizosphere
