Project A 6
Experiment 2: Allocation of C-metabolites in beech under the influence of ozone and/or Phytophthora citricola
Design
Since autumn 2002 beech saplings were grown in  eight lysimeters, whereas each four were exposed to ambient respectively double ambient ozone. A detailed description of the experiment  can be found in project B12.
In 2006 a root infection with Phythophthora citricola was performed on two lysimeters of each ozone treatment. At the same time plants were labelled with 13C and 15N.

Results
In project A6, we investigated the carbohydrate metabolism of beech leaves since 2003. Up to the year 2005, no significant onzone effects were observed (fig. 1).

In 2006 we monitored the root infection with P. citricola and examined the allocation of 13C in starch pools of leaves, twigs, stem and roots for effects of ozone and / or Phytophthora infection.

All analyses of the year 2006 are still in progress.
